Moremi Community has formed a trust with the intention to develop a Community Based Natural Resource Management Project. They would like to fence off the Moremi Hill on which the Gorge is located and establish a camping site for overnight visitors. An entry fee may be imposed on day visitors. Once operational, this move will maximise benefits to the local community and minimise costs and loses.
The Moremi Gorge is about 45 km East of Palapye via Kgagodi. The Tswapong hills are the largest and can be found along the length of the border East of Palapye. Deep gorges have carved into the shear sided hills, giving rise to numerous seasonal rivers which are fed by natural fresh springs of clear water where the absorbed rain flows out of the porous rock. The springs form permanent waterfalls with deep pools edged with mosses and ferns unseen anywhere alse in Botswana. More info on: www.botswana-tourism.gov.bw
