Savute Game Reserve is a prime game viewing destination situated in the south of the Chobe National Park. Savute’s almost desert-like landscape with a scorching sun, loose, hot sand, animals escaping the heat by clumping together in the limited available shade, and elephants lining up to get to the water supply, offer a wildlife experience you won't easily forget. Good sightings of cheetah and leopard are possible and the endangered wild dog also occurs here. The annual zebra migration is followed by large concentrations of lion. Savute Game Reserve is famous for its large concentrations of elephants that congregate around the waterholes at sunset. This makes for exceptional observation of the interaction of Africa’s wildlife. Birdlife is also great and a spectacular sight is the redbilled queleas that gather in their thousands.
