Herceg-Novi is located close to the borer with Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia, some 70 km by road west of Podgorica the capital of Montenegro. Just north of the Bay of Kotor the strategical position of Herceg-Novi gave the city its importance. Hardly surprising that the main sights are the city gates and some fortresses. You may also want to have a look ate the church and the monastery of Savina.
