15 km from Pointe-ŕ-Pitre, this wide spread town extends from the shore at the Petit Cul-de-Sac-Marin with view over the bay of Pointe-ŕ-Pitre to the mountains of the Route de la Traversée. the city with its fishermens' port is an important agricultural and industrial center, but at the same time a very pleasant residential area. On the hillside you will find beautiful colonial style estates and residential estates for those working in Pointe-ŕ-Pitre. Two of Guadeloupes' longest rivers, Moustique and Lezarde, have their source at Morne Joffre and run into the sea at the beach of Viard. It is a very pleasant site for vacation, especially for those seeking for ecotourism.

To visit:

The House of the forest: didactic trails in the rain forest.
Waterfall cascade aux écrevisses at the Route de la Traversée.
