A city filled with cultural relics, Gyeongju dates back to the 1st century BC in the province of Gyeongsangdo. Goguryeo(37 BC~ AD668)and Baekje's (18 BC ~ AD678) collapse gave rise to the first unified Korea under the reign of the Silla (57 B.C. ~A.D. 935) kings. The incredible 992 year history of the Unified Silla Kingdom makes today's Gyeongju a tourist'dream. This picturesque city allows tourists to step back in time, experience the beauty of the land and exquisite architecture,and view numerous relics from the Unified Silla Kingdom. This one of a kind historical treasure of a city attracts around 8~9 million tourists a year (both domestic and foreign).
