This area includes Chongjin, the capital of North Hamgyong Province, the spa resort Kyongsong, and Chilbo Mountains.
Chongjin adjoins Rajin, the golden triangle of free economic trade zone. It has the big Chongjin port and a coastline with favorable conditions for tourists. Chongjin is the political, economical and cultural center of the northeastern region.
Kyongsong is 35 km southwest of Chongjin and known for its spas and ceramics. The Chilbo Mountains are situated some 65 km southwest of Kyongsong. They used to be secluded by its difficult accessibility. Nowadays the area has developed as a recreation resort.
This area is renowned for recreation and treatment tours. Chongjin offers city sightseeing but Kyongsong and the Chilbo Mountains provide variety of tours with trekkings, spa baths and sea baths.
