Lake Manyara National Park, Tanzania

Known especially for it's magnificent scenery, this park consists of a lake at the base of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by plains littered with wildlife. The vegetation is rich and varied, from water forest, to woodlands, grassland and swamp. The lake itself attracts flamingoes and is home to 350 species of birds, ranging from pelicans and sacred ibis to grebe. The park is also famous for the unique tree climbing lions, which climb the acacia trees of heights reaching 25 feet tall.
