Qui Nhon is the capital of Binh Dinh Province in central Vietnam. The the town's major attraction are the convenient beaches near the town center and as a stopover on the trip from Nha Trang to Danang.
As with most places in central Vietnam, there are relics and monuments from the Cham kingdom. The ruins of the ancient Cham capital of Tra Ban are located 26km (16 miles) from Qui Nhon. Covering slightly more than 1000m2 (1200 yards2), this site saw the final battle between the Cham and Vietnamese. Canh Tien tower is in the middle of the old walled enclosure. Control of the city of Tra Ban also changed hands several times during the the Tay Son insurrection in the 18th century.
