The town of Pleiku is situated in the heart of a vast mountain plateau at a height of 785m (2575 feet). The rich volcanic soil and mild weather make it good for growing coffee and tea. There are about 45000 inhabitants in Pleiku with a large number of ethnic peoples. The moderate year-round temperatures, beautiful landscape and villages have only recently attracted visitors to Pleiku. Tourists come to trek the forests and mix with the ethnic peoples and even to take elephant rides!
