Phu Quoc is Vietnam's largest island, and is situated off the coast of Kien Giang in the gulf of Thailand. It has retained its pristine beaches and lush forests due to its remoteness. The tear drop-shaped island is 48km (30 miles) long and between 3 and 28km (1 and 17 miles) wide. The 1,320km2 (510 miles2) is home to about 70,000 people.

Phu Quoc is often called the Emerald Island because of its natural treasures and beauty. The island is well known for its high-quality fish sauce. Phu Quoc fish sauce is keenly sought by Vietnamese all over the world for its particular smell. Made from a small fish, ca com, with a high protein level, the sauce has a pungent aroma. The island produces 6 million liters of fish sauce every year.

Phu Quoc is an ideal place for a vacation. You can enjoy river cruises, visiting fish-sauce factories and pepper plantations, jungle-trekking, boat trips to An Thoi islands with snorkeling and fishing, enjoying the countless lonely beaches, or marveling at the local products at the market. There is as much or as little to do as you want.
