Majete Wildlife Reserve, Malawi

Bogdan Kwiatkowski
Displayed: times. This Reserve is off the main M1 road, forty miles south of Blantyre, in the Lower Shire Valley. Although quite easy to reach, there is little game to be seen, partly because of the lack of driveable tracks. A walking safari may be more successful. However, just inside the main gate are the Kapichira Falls where Livingstone?s voyage up the River Shire foundered. This is a great place for a picnic but the construction of a hydro-electric power station nearby may eventually deprive the falls of their supply of water. More info on: www.malawitourism.com
