Holden Beach, Malawi

Holden Beach is a nice island located on the coast of North Carolina. Just 45 minutes north of Myrtle Beach, SC, and 45 minutes south of Wilmington, NC. Getting here can be a bit tricky the first time since there are no major roads leading to the island. I-95 and I-40 are the main interstates that bring you into the area. From there you can make your way to highway 17, the east coast highway which will lead you to the little town of Shallotte, NC. Then follow the signs to Holden Beach. It's a tradition to stop by the locally owned grocery store the Beach Mart for all your supplies. Then Paradise awaits on the opposite side of the connector.
Our unique location on the coast, if you notice, places our beaches running from the east to the west. So we get a beautiful sunrise right out of the ocean. All day the sun follows the dunes of the beach and sets back into the ocean in the evening, something very few beaches get to experience. This is especially prominent during the fall and winter months of the year when the sun is closest to the equator. During this time of year the beach belongs to only you and the sand pipers.
The summertime wakes up the sleepy island for a few months of excitement. The restuarants are bustling with welcomed vacationers sneaking away from reality, the ocean warms itself into the 80s and a warm breeze blows out of the ocean from the south, welcoming all the kids from 1 to 100.
Holden Beach offers an array of family fun. From the beach to its shopping and restaurants. There are plenty of outstanding golf courses within minutes of the island and the local captains can always put you on the fish in the area.
Accomodations come in all shapes and sizes to fit your family's vacation needs. The realtors in our area are glad to help you find the perfect place to spend your vacation. And, the rental supply businesses can supply you with everything from bicycles to beach chairs so you don't have to worry about getting them. More info on: www.world66.com
