Ha Tay province consists of mountainous regions, midlands, plains and low-lying regions. Ha Tay is adjacent to Hoa Binh to the West, Vinh Phuc province to the North, Hanoi to the East and Ha Nam province to the South. The National high way IA running through Ha Tay province links Hanoi to the Southern provinces. National highway No.6 links Hanoi to North-West provinces (Hoa Binh, Son La and Lai Chau province). Ha Tay has many big rivers: Da river, Hong river, Day river and Nhue river.The Kinh account for 99% of the province's population; the remaining population is from the Muong and Dao ethnic groups.
Famous sites include Huong Pagoda, Tay Phuong Pagoda, and hundreds of caves, which were used as homes. Most festivals and activities in Ha Tay take place during the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd months after Tet.
