Cuc Phuong National Park is located about 100km (62 miles) southwest of Hanoi. Approximately 90% of the forest cover is primary rainforest. Close to 2,000 plant species can be found in the park. Of the more than 60 mammal species, the largest are the Macaque monkeys and spotted deer, while the Red-Bellied Squirrel is unique to this area. The park's extraordinary wildlife diversity is matched by its varied topography - the highest mountain reaches 648m (2,126 feet). Cuc Phuong is home to the Endangered Primates Rescue Centre which welcomes visitors. All animals here have been rescued from illegal traders.
