Caibe, Vietnam

This bustling floating market is worth including on a boat tour from Vinh Long. It operates from 5.00am to 5.00pm, but is best early in the morning. Wholesalers moor their big boats here, each specializing in one or two types of fruit or vegetables. Customers cruise the market in smaller boats, and can easily find what they're looking for as the larger boats hang samples over their sides on long wooden poles. The huge Catholic cathedral on the riverbank is a fantastic backdrop for photographs and sets Cai Be apart from other floating markets. It takes about an hour to reach Cai Be from Vinh Long. Most people make detours on the way there or back to explore the canals or visit orchards.
