Sosua, Dominican Republic

Sosua competes with Puerto Plata for the bulk of the tourists who visit the north coast. However, notwithstanding the glut of all-inclusive resorts and the 'banana boat' rides on the bay, Sosua might be of some interest to those people who are keen on scuba diving. The town has several diving schools, numerous dive sites, and even a 36-meter shipwreck.
Sosua is only 15km from one of the country's main adventure hotspots, Cabarete, which has a good range of hotels for independent travelers.
