Pulau Duyung is a place where excellent wooden boat making takes place and is home to one of Malaysia's most acclaimed master boat makers.

How to get there

Those who like driving can use the Sungai Terengganu bridge and take the Pulau Duyung exit in the middle of the span. From there, ask for directions to the “boat builder’s place”. Those thirsting for a river experience can grab a ride in one of the passenger boats that makes the 300m trip along Sungai Terengganu from Pasar Payan to Pulau Duyung. The short ride should cost about 50 sen per person. For an enjoyable outing, give yourself no less than half an hour in the yard. Remember, work at the shipyard ceases by 4.30pm and it’s closed on Fridays. Abdullah can be reached at 09-631 5072.
