The old quarter, where you can see many a great and impressive buildings, is really worth a visit! Most of the buildings are still in their original state and others have been renovated with great care. The main square was built in the 13th century and it is with its 13,000 mË› the largest town square of Austria. In 1521, on the occasion of the marriage of Archduke Ferdinand with Anna of Hungary, the famous "Losenstein Tournament" took place on this fantastic square. A walk through the narrow lanes around the main square is a worthwhile experience. A few years back, in 1994, as much as 12,000 visitors opened the annual Ars Electronica Festival with an interactive computer game.
