The centre of wine-making. Yearly Wine Festivals take place in Limassol, presenting its products. Another festival the carnival with fancy-dress processions, parades and balls, lasting for 2 weeks. This is also the most important port – city. You can enjoy different cruises to Egypt, Lebanon, Greece etc starting from here. This city is not popular among tourists as there is no good natural beaches though there is a plenty number of hotels and the nightlife, coupled with restaurants and shops, is highly developed. You can also start sightseeing here in Limassol. The first landmark will be a small fortress in Limassol- now Limassol Castle-Medieval Museum, witnessed the wedding procedure of Richard Lion Heart. Archaeological Museum attracts multitude of tourist from all parts of Cyprus. You can also delight here the oldest archaic towns of Cyprus. Amathus (in the eastern part of the town) and Curium, excavated by archaeologists and partially restored, the imposing Greek – Roman amphitheatre is used nowadays for the summer concerts and theatre performances.
