Müggelturm, Germany

The Mueggelturm belonged to Berlin Koepenick and stands for small, 88 m in such a way specified on the high Mueggelberg over the Mueggelsee. The once beautiful tower was established 1889 from wood in the Chinese Pagodenstil and was covered with Schindeln. It was built by the Spindlerwerken. The 27m high tower developed fast to a popular trip goal and offered a panorama view over the forest landscapes of the region and the Mueggelsee up to the city silhouette of Berlin. Still without tower Theodor Fontane was offered some years before from the height of the Mueggelberge the following picture: On square miles only water and forest. Nothing that reminded of the hand of the culture. Not way, not bar and no other route visibly, than the confusing river net, which pulls itself by the apparently endless forest districts. No hut smoke ascends, no herd feasts on the banks along, and only one fish sea gull floats fullly and slowly over the Mueggelsee. After the wood tower had gotten over the First and second World War without prejudice to, it burned down on 19 May 1958. Already in October 1959 a new tower was inaugurated, whose realization had supported the population with commitment and donations. Despite beautiful suggestions in the long run a quite plain concrete block in slab method was established. The 29m high tower has 9 projectiles with panorama windows and a platform, which are attainable over stairs. At the beginning of the third millenium the tower is in a betrueblichen condition. 1996 were tried to reorganize the tower - at least the expanded catering trade range however remains urgently reorganization needy by humidity break-down and might hardly have to be saved. In the year 2004 tower and catering trade stand to the sales; to in the middle of June 2004 the concepts of the prospective customers must be submitted. The advertisement and the discussion over the best concept achieve a broad participation, for example take part beginning architects DO Cottbus with drafts. Source
