Wear your best beach and casual clothes. In the wintertime (June to September), carry some light woollen clothing for the cool evenings. You should show due respect when visiting religious places - wear appropriate clothing (and remove leather belts and shoes) when entering the premises.

We visited in September/October. Stayed in Grand Baie but travelled all around. Shorts and tees/shirts for the men. Ladies fine in 3/4 pants/shorts skirts and the like. A shawl/pahmina good for over the shoulders at nite. In the resorts at nite for dinner................men are expected to wear long pants. We were not aware of this so this is a good tip for first time travellers. Ladies can dress up that seemed to be acceptable at the Veranda in Grand Baie. And of couse bathers, towel, sunnies, hat and sunscreen are all you need to sit by the pool under that magnificent Mauritian sun !!!!!
