The Jeepney is a fun and efficient way to get around citys or between small towns in the Philippines. There are set fares in all small towns and cities for the routes that the Jeepneys run on. So if your a tourist and don't want to be taken advantage of just watch how much the locals hand the driver. Or learn a little bit of the local language. Most of the time the drivers will speak English. And most of the time the drivers will be honest and not over charge you. I've never had any real problems with them. They are my favorite form of transport in the Philippines. On my last trip my son and I got into a Jeepney to go to a small town about 10 mile from where we were at with the regular fare being about 5 pesos. The poor guy never picked up any other riders for the whole trip and was going to only charge us the regular fare of 5 pesos each(about US$.10cents) That wouldn't even cover his gas so we gave him more. At first he didn't want to accept it but I said the money he was charging us didn't even cover the cost of his gas and he happily accepted and thanked us.
