Ngarchelong is the name of an adminstrative division of the country of Palau. Ngarchelong is at the northern most tip of the island of Babeldaob. It is an important historical site and has undergone archeological excavation. It is in Ngarchelong that you will find ancient stone monoliths which are mysterious in origin. Not even the locals know how these stone monoliths came into existence but what is known is that traditional Palaun religion regarded these stone monoliths as sacred prayer ground. There are other stone monoliths located in and around the islands but you will not see as many as there are in Ngarchelong. To get there, one has to take a tour bus or rent a jeep and ride a dirt road for about three hours.
