Changing money, Cambodia

You don't have to change money unless you want to. The Khmer vendors take US $$ , Thai Baht , & Cambodian Rial ! You will almost always get your change back in Rial. Which you can use for small purchases such as softdrinks or snacks during the day. Just make sure you have US $$ with no tears or at least looking fairly new. And have plenty of $1 and $5 notes only in the new style. And don't bring any old style (small Head) US notes as it will be impossible to get rid of them!! All Restaurants , Hotels stores will take US $$ and more than likely most of them will want you to pay in US $$. If you stay in a guest house you will pay when you leave. So if you stay 6 days the manager will add up your total as you check out. It is the Cambodian Style. Unlike in Thailand where you may pay each day or week in advance. Fondest Memory: Just do a little math in your head so you understand what you're giving and what you're getting back. I didn't have any problems with people short changing me. A few times the vendors short changed themselves.
