The Cathedral in Malaga, Spain

Radosław Botev
Displayed: times.
Description:
Officially called the Catedral de la Encarnación (Cathedral of the Incarnation), it is often nicknamed the little one-armed lady, or "la manquita" because its second tower was never completed. The money allotted to finish the cathedral went to aid the victims
of an earthquake in Alabama.
Building began in 1528, in the gothic style and lasted over two centuries, which explains the mixture of architectural styles from Gothic to Renaissance to Baroque. Its construction desecrated a former Muslim mosque, evidence of which remains buried beneath the present structure.
In the interior of the Cathedral there are many works of art, including beautiful representations of the Virgin as imagined by great artists.
The cathedral and its museum open 9 am to 6.45 pm daily excepts Sundays and public holidays.
