The City Park and the Vajdahunyad Castle, Hungary

World explorerWorld explorerWorld explorerWorld explorerWorld explorer Radosław Botev
Displayed:   times.

Description: The leafy Varosliget (City Park) starts just behind the Heroes' Square, where the fairytale towers of Vajdahunyad Castle rear above an island girled by an artificial lake used for boating or skating. Like the park, the castle was createdfor the Milenary Anniversary celebrations, so dramatic effects were the order of the day. This "stone catalogue" of architectural styles incorporates a replica of the Chapel at Jak in western Hungary and two Transylvanian castles (one of the originals, the Hunyadi Castle in Romania, gives its name to the building). Address: 1146 Budapest, Varosliget Directions: Behind Heroes Square, access by metro M1 (Szechenyi furdo station) or trolleybuses #70, 72, 74, 75, 79 Phone: (+36) 1/343-3198
