Description: Original castle has already stood on rocky headland above the brook Spranek in the beginning of the 14th century. His first holder documented in writing was unknown aristocrat Buz from Buzov in 1317. In the course of several centuries, the members of Czech and Moravian aristocratic families took turns in the castle after him. In the 14th century the castle Bouzov belonged to Moravian earl Jost, who was the nephew of Charles IV. and in the 15th century lords from Kunstat owned the castle. Czech king George from Podebrady also came from this family. It isn't out of question that he was born here in Bouzov. His birthplace isn't documented exactly and from several possible places [Podebrady, Kunstat, Horazdovice] is just castle Bouzov very probable. In the end of the 17th century - in 1696 - grand master of the Order of German Knights Francis Louis Falcky bought Bouzov's manor. The Order of German Knights [from 1929 well-known as the German Order] held the castle then until the year 1939. During the second world war the possession of the German Order was confiscated by the Nazis and after the year 1945 on the basis of Benes' edicts the castle has not been given back to original holder. Nowadays the castle has got fairy-tale form by extensive romantic rebuilding in the years from 1895 to 1910, when it was almost whole rebuilt on the basis of original medieval castle to could serve as a museum of ecclesiastic history, as a presentable and summer residence of the grand master. At that time ecclesiastic grand master archduke Eugenius Austrian [21th of May 1863 till 30th of December 1954] decided to rebuilt the castle and a professor of Academy in Munich Georg von Haberisser drew up the project of the rebuilding. This project demonstrates author's perfect knowledge of medieval architecture. During the seeing you will be able to convience yourselves, that the castle Bouzov was rebuilt to look like original medieval castles as mutch as possible. It has got then all that is typical for castles.
