Bitola also known as the town of the consuls, lies at an altitude of 600m above sea level. Bitola is an old city situated in the southern part of Pelagonija Plain. In the modern times Bitola is an important industrial, agricultural, commercial cultural and educational centre. Pelister mountain is found on the outskirts of Bitola. Its richness in flora and fauna makes Pelister a national park, with well known ski resorts and the two small lakes known as "Pelisterski Oci" (Pelister Eyes).
