Zanzibar - Fukuchani Ruins, Tanzania

Fukuchani Ruins lying to the south of Nungwi these ruins are known locally as the Portuguese House. In orgin the hous was thought to be Swahili. It is built of coral bricks. The doorways are arched and there are rectangular niches in the walls of the main room. Small holes for defence have been inserted in the stonewall that surrounds the house. The ruins are in good condition and are well worth seeing.
