Dar es Salaam is located on Tanzania’s east coast. This city is the gateway to the island of Zanzibar, and the starting point of the southern safari circuit. Large ocean liners tower above the Arab dhows in the harbour in this vibrant city where the hustle and bustle continue despite the warm and humid climatic conditions. To the international tourists arriving here Dar es Salaam offers several options. The Kikuvoni Front at the harbour has a fish market. The Kariakoo Market and clock tower are in the busier central city streets. At the National Museum one can follow the history of the slave trade once conducted in these parts.
