Kenya - Saiwa Swamp National Park, Kenya

The Saiwa Swamp National Park is located in western central Kenya below the Cherangani Hills near the border with Uganda, and north of the town of Kitale. The main reason for establishing this national park was to protect the resident sitatunga population. The main feature of the park is essentially the swamp, which is largely inaccessible since the river winds its way through the wetland and this area is surrounded by forest. The vegetation is a mixture of forest and swamp vegetation. As well as the sitatunga the following mammals can also be seen in the Saiwa Swamp National Park: De Brazza's monkey, Potto, Giant Forest Hog, and Spotted-necked otters. The bird life is plentiful.
