Lake Nakuru National Park is situated in the Rift Valley Province. The park lies 6 kilometres from Nakuru town and 140 km northwest of Nairobi. Lake Nakuru is a shallow alkaline lake and has a fluctuating area depending on the wetness of the season. There are steep cliffs on the western side of the lake. The park has an adequate and well-serviced motorable roads that make most parts of the park accessible. Nakuru's unique vegetation includes about 550 different plant species including the unique and biggest euphorbia forest in Africa and yellow acacia woodlands. This is the largest flamingo concentration in the World. This park is also an ideal place to view the endangered black and white rhino at close quarters, and the protected Rothschilds' giraffe.
