Zambia - Lake Kariba and Siavonga, Zambia

Kevin Green
Displayed: times.Siavonga is situated at the north eastern tip of Lake Kariba and is on the border with Zimbabwe. When Kariba Dam was completed it was the largest man-made dam ever built. The valley was flooded to enable the creation of hydroelectric power to both Zambia and Zimbabwe. Fishing is definitely a major attraction as many are lured by the sport involved in catching a tiger fish. A crocodile farm is located a few kilometres outside of Siavonga. Siavonga and the Zambian side of Lake Kariba do not offer much wildlife but do have spectacular scenery including some superb old baobabs.
