Car Rentals in Kuwait, Kuwait

Renting a car in Kuwait is relatively easy. Most car rental companies have offices in the main hotels around in the country, as well as a main office. Some companies, such as Al-Mulla, also have offices in the airport. To rent a car, foreigners on a visitor's visa require an international driver's license (a license issued in the tourist's home country is not acceptable). Many rental companies require a minimum age of 21 in order to rent a car; there are several, however, that require 18 years of age and above.
Rates of each company vary, depending on car size and type. The first 150 kilometers are usually free, with extra distances being charged per kilometer at different rates. Charges are based on a 24-hour day, and hourly fees are charged for late returns. Insurance is usually included in the rental rates. However, those using an international license are required to have that license insured through a local insurance company. For information on different insurance companies in Kuwait, see the Tourism section in Statistics.
Many of the car rental companies lease cars on a long-term basis, with the company responsible for all insurance, registration, maintenance, and other costs during the period. Terms and rates are very reasonable by international standards. For example, the all-encompassing cost, excluding petrol, can be as little as KD 150 per moth for a large American car.
