The currency used in Kuwait is called the Kuwaiti Dinar (KD). There are 1,000 fils in one dinar. Bank notes are in the increments of ź; ˝; 1; 5; 10; and 20. Coins or fils are found in 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 increments. The Kuwaiti Dinar is stronger than most other currencies around the world. Depending on the fluctuations of the market, one KD converts to about $3.00 to $3.50 (U.S.). To convert it the other way around, US $1 equals about KD 0.300 (300 fils). Currency exchange is available in banks, hotels, and from foreign exchange dealers located all around various urban areas.
