For the first time, a western expediton has been authorized by the Soviets to enter Siberia (1989). It has crossed on sleighs hauled by reindeers 1.300 kms from Yakutzk to Ojmiakon, with temperatures around 45-55°C degrees under zero. Ojmiakon is the coldest place in which people alive firmly. The lowest temperature has reached -72°C.
