8th century - traces of Lusatian culture on the suburbs of Stare Piekary

1149 AD - the earliest records of the name Legnica and St. Benedict's Chapel in a document issued by duke Bolesław Kędzierzawy.

Around 1175 AD - Legnica fortress develops to become a significant administrative, military and economical centre.
