Travel story: Alexandria, Monday the 30th of August

As I make my way after breakfast to the local cyber café, I notice that a stretch of the road, in which I find myself, is blocked up-front and that they are closing it behind me with large barriers. I wonder what all the fuss is about.



It seems that an ID check is taking place. I am confident that, as a white foreigner, I am not a target of this procedure. I notice with amusement that the police asks to see the ID of all the men and only some women, those that are not... More
