I draw near me and I observe with deference an iron cross and a headstone that it brings a guilty writing: "1681-1741, to the great explorer captain-commodore Vitus Bering. The Danish Bering has devoted 36 years of his life to the explorations to the service of the czar Pietro the Great and completes the most great arctic trips of the '800.
I'm in the Commodore Islands, last limbo of Russian earth that together with the gigantic Aleutian archipelago, along 1.650 kilometers, it unites Asia to America.
The climate of the archipelago it's the worst of the world. It's the third day that rains without truce on this inhospitable land and the atmosphere it's made more acute from the feeling of loneliness that transudes from all of that surrounds us.
