Zimbabwe is cool. Yes I know that is a very generic description but it fits Zim well. Oh and how fun is it to say "Zimbabwe". Try putting emphasis on other parts of the word, there you go, now you see what I am talking about. First off I would like to say that this country is not as bad off as the media makes it out to be. There are not gun totting Africans running through the streets shooting at any whitey that they come across. These people are the nicest African people I have ever met, so helpful and friendly.

Now of course I am not really able to make these sweeping generalizations without prefacing the fact that I only really went to the town of Vic Falls and did not see the rest of the country. But going there does however allow for me to make the statement that Robert Mugabe is a out and out IDIOT. How tragic. Such a wonderful country and one ninkenpoop ruins it. Sadly the story of many an African country.
The money is wild, listen to this. For starters the mint now only prints money on one side to save money(that sounds funny doesn't it?) and it also has an expiry date. This was explained to me by one man there, who said that if Mugabe was to say get hacked to death with a machete, then the country would stabilize as well as the country and then you cannot have people bringing in millions of Zim dollars. But nonetheless it made walking around with cash a challenge. It did look pretty pimp walking around with wads and wads of cash.
Things were really cheap, really cheap. You can acquire some exquisite works of African art for ludicrous prices. People always wanted to swap there wares with me for my t shirt or shoes or anything. It is also hard to say no when a lady comes up to you and begs you to buy something so that she can feed her family.
The highlight by far was river rafting on the Zambezi. WILD. We went through six grade 5 rapids. And grade 6 is the biggest you get. "Stairway to Heaven" a somewhat appropriate name was amazing. I sat right in the front for it. Got flipped over on "Mother". That river valley is perhaps the most beautiful place on Earth. It is truly magical. I cannot give it justice by trying to describe it. GO SEE IT FOR YOURSELF.
Looking forward to returning to Zim.
PS the Nyamin Nyami is the river god that protects you from the waters of the mighty Zambezi. I wear one around my neck now for protection. Works like a charm, no pun intended!
