Very detailed travelogue on visiting the remotest inhabited islands in the world: Tristan da Cunha and St. Helena, as well as S. Africa, Malaysia and Singapore, and Indonesia. Very informative, full of tips, history, what it was like to visit and stay there, indexed by country. Visit my webpage for this and other downloadable travelogues: http://www.tcp.com/~lgreenf
These are fascinating islands. Tristan has only 238 people, all with same 7 last names.

(the day I'd be leaving South Africa back for Malaysia) -- though I wondered
what would happen if I wound up needing a few extra days in the country.
Unlike KLIA, the baggage at Cape Town airport came out quickly, so I soon
found myself looking for an ATM and a place to buy a telephone card.
There's construction going on at the airport, and a sign indicating that
the new international arrivals terminal would be finished by December 2000

stay with them... so the owners instead set me up with a friend of theirs
just starting a B&B in the nearby Vredehoek area. Because I was exhausted
from the flight and just wanted to get to town, I didn't call the B&B from
the airport even though I probably
