i'm afraid to say that it's a disappointment. we've also had a run of bad luck though, i think. starting with my backpack breaking on the way, then getting here just after midnight and finding that public transport stops at midnight, so we had to pay 20 dollars each for a cab to the hostel (our hostel's in the middle of nowhere, and both of us were considering how fast we can run when the sketchy taxi driver pulled down this dirt road at 1 am, but, it just turned out our hostel was in the middle of nowhere).

i'm afraid to say that it's a disappointment. we've also had a run of bad luck though, i think. starting with my backpack breaking on the way, then getting here just after midnight and finding that public transport stops at midnight, so we had to pay 20 dollars each for a cab to the hostel (our hostel's in the middle of nowhere, and both of us were considering how fast we can run when the sketchy taxi driver pulled down this dirt road at 1 am, but, it just turned out our hostel was in the middle of nowhere). considering i only brought 45 for the weekend, that broke my budget. prague's not quite so cheap as they say - it's certainly better than london, much, but not quite so good as i'd dreamed - and it's very cold, and also not quite so beautiful as they say. maybe it's just not to my taste, but old town prague is not very large and it involves too many... pastels. too much color, yes, i know, i'm so dreary. but if it were nice, vibrant color, it would be nice, but it's not, all faded yellow and orange.
we did make a list of things that we enjoyed though, as we comiserated on the metro home: free public transport (ok, so it's not really free but they don't check if you have a ticket... so it's free), marionettes!!, the franz kafka museum was not only extensive but also a work of art in and of itself, the lewd statues outside the franz kafka museum, a gorgeous view from up top, a kitty in our hostel (this is probably the dingiest hostel i've stayed in though, the beds are just flats on the ground and there's no heating, one of hostesses has amazing eyes though, one brown, one green, and they do have a cat, and are quite nice), a few nice cathedrals, the feeling of being reaallly warm after being reeally cold, being able to watch the cute pizza man as we ate our fairly cheap italian food, free eclairs on the plane here, sneaking into the palace... so there's a decent list of good memories. i just wish it hadn't cost so much to come here.
