well, the trip continued to be frought with ill luck. just after i wrote my last post, my glasses broke. not permanently, one of the screws just came out, but it's not something i'll be able to deal with for a few days. fortunately, the weather improved on sunday, it was a rather gorgeous day and we found another area of town that had quite a bit of beautiful architecture. the 'old town square' area -- which is where everyone has to go when they go so it's full of people but there's a reason. a walkway between the national museum (which we decided to spring for and go in... and then found that almost all the info was in czech, unlike the franz kafka museum where everything was split pretty evenly...

well, the trip continued to be frought with ill luck. just after i wrote my last post, my glasses broke. not permanently, one of the screws just came out, but it's not something i'll be able to deal with for a few days. fortunately, the weather improved on sunday, it was a rather gorgeous day and we found another area of town that had quite a bit of beautiful architecture. the 'old town square' area -- which is where everyone has to go when they go so it's full of people but there's a reason. a walkway between the national museum (which we decided to spring for and go in... and then found that almost all the info was in czech, unlike the franz kafka museum where everything was split pretty evenly... so it was a bit of a waste) and the old square is full of interesting and generally amusing sculptures as well. best of all, we both bought marionettes, though virgie got hers for her brother -- the marionettes were most certainly the highlight of prague for me. i only wish we'd actually been able to go see a show.
we tried to catch an earlier flight because virgie needed
to get back and do homework, which only landed us waiting at the airport for 5 hours because the 6:45 plane was busting at the seams. fortunately, the time went by quickly, as we amused ourselves making a list of the good and the bad, which continued to grow as the night went on because it was one of my worst experiences in an airport ever, and playing silly childhood games. due to further ill luck with the tube, we only barely managed to get back to the flat by midnight, despite the plane landing at 10. we caught the second to last tube on our last leg. so we counted ourself lucky at that point.
