The buildings here are quite western, real skyscrapers. Unfortunately many of the old Chinese quarters have to yield to these huge monsters.
There is, however, still some trace of traditional construction, the scaffolding is made of … bamboo. Tradition and modern life go well together in Hong Kong. In a fashionable street full of shops you will suddenly find, hidden in the wall, a small niche with some Chinese characters and a few incense sticks: a kind of mini temple.
Our first evening meal in Hong Kong was in a street ‘restaurant’, Temple Street Food. Quite an experience! Though not for those with a weak stomach or an obsession for neatness. A restaurant in the open air with a collection of kitchen chairs and tables from the 50’s and 60’s. Right in the middle of all that funny looking mess, you can find the ‘kitchen’, where, nevertheless, the hot flaming woks seem a guarantee for well cooked food! It was delicious!
Hong Kong consists of several islands and peninsulas. The underground is never far away and after dinner we took it to go to the outer point of Kowloon to see the skyline of Hong Kong Island by night. It did look a bit like New York. A lot of neon lights enlightened the impressive skyscrapers.
In the Fragrant Corner Café across the road from our hotel we first encountered the poor communication with the Chinese people. Although constantly smiling, they had no idea what we meant by ‘marmalade’ and so we decided to order the one thing that the kind gentleman could pronounce in English: ‘eggs and toast’ and ‘coffee’. The tea is being served as a standard service of the house. Everything tasted good, and even the coffee was better than we expected.
In all the travel guides a visit to the Peak Tower is recommended and so we had to see what this was about. We took the underground to ‘Central’ on Hong Kong Island; the underground is surprisingly clean and

especially Xu Zhou. maybe it is not as beautiful as Yunnan. however you can know nearly the whole Han dynasty. there are many stories. some of them are romantic, some of them are tragedy. looks like jacke Chen's lastest movie------Myth. if you haven't read it before. you need a cicerone. that is my idea. this is my email adress. if you will come to visit Xu Zhou, you can call me. i live there. when i was a little child, there were many visters came to there, walk through my old house. well, at last, i will give you an idvice, come here in spring. because there there is a famous traditional market at that time. we call it Miao Hui.
