There is this magic place I always go to have a good rest after a year of working at school. It is my parent’s plot of land on the lake shore, about 15 kilometres from Plock. The lake is called Zdworskie Lake, but we call it The Lake. There are a few old melancholic, deserted resorts which used to be full of people. Now they are full of ghosts of the past. A number of boats lie there, motionless, as if they were tired of waiting for their captains. Some of them are upside down on the yellow sand. But still you can rent a sailing boat or a cayak. Or go for a long long walk around the lake, meet some deer and lizards...
The waves hit the shore. No one is in a hurry. The air is fresh and moist. I love sitting there in the evening. I am equipped with boots and a jacket because it is always cold late at night. And there are billions of mosquitoes. At first it is quiet, but then you hear “rabbit” of the frogs. The start their song one after another. Soon the whole orchestra plays.
Frogs all around you, starry sky above and a bottle of cold beer. This is my Lake.
