I found out this morning that I have an extra month in which to write my project. My evenings will now be less busy than I feared they would be, so I bought a chess set from the market. It has scratches on all the white squares and only one black knight, but apart from that it is in perfect condition. Taking one white knight off the table before playing won't interfere too much; the lady who owns the stall I bought it from was very friendly, and she can buy eight loaves of bread with the 70 roubles I gave her. <br />

Michael is in Moscow visiting friends so I am all alone in the flat. Linda and Karin came over to have a cup of coffee and a chat - and to eat every biscuit that I had in the fridge. Since school they have learned to speak in very good american english, and how we talk the same language differently is always a conversation in itself. For example, why Karin shouldn't tell me to look at her pants because she stepped in a puddle this morning. Linda calls biscuits 'cookies', Karin calls them 'biscuits' and I call them 'pechenye' because I usually forget the english word. They go back to Finland in three weeks, which is when I will start to say goodbye to people again.
I was exhausted in the evening, and fell asleep on the ledge of the lounge window while watching the football. When I woke up I took my pillow back to my room and slept somewhere slightly warmer.
