Hello everyone, another little update for you! NZ is absolutely awesome- love it! landed in christchurch a couple of weeks ago and worked out it would be cheaper to hire a car than it would be for 3 of us to each buy a bus pass- the result was a 13 seater minbus affectionately named "van diesel" which we pimped by taking out the back seats and laying some foam down for a bed! haven't slept in a hostel since! anyway, christchurch was nothing special- quite nice, very english- having a pint on the side of the River Avon for example! After stocking up on goodness for the van i.e. a cool box for beer and 3 fishing chairs, we cruised on down to Mt Cook. Quality lakes on the way- the water is stupidly blue, something to do with minerals apparently but the photos don't do them justice.

Played in a football tournament which was great after 3 months away! fitness was a bit of an issue- apparently beer, eating crap and no exercise don't help you play football....? Next up was a road trip to Milford Sound. Met up with two mates Claire and Sally and an Israeli girl who we couldn't pronounce her name so she became "a road" which she didn't seem to mind too much. (We actually met a mate of hers called "o dead" as well) Turned up and it was hammering it down- one of the wettest places in the world or something like that- but it looked good cos all the cliffs and valleys were just covered in waterfalls. The girls didn't book accommodation so we ended up with 6 of us sleeping in the van for a couple of nights! cosy. Went on a cruise of the Sound and walked/ climbed up this mountain for a few hours which was good- great view at the end. Back to Queenstown for some more beer before leaving up the coast to Franz Josef glacier. This was cool- the fastest moving and steepest commercially available glacier in the world, so we went on a day hike in our crampons and ice axes and went clambering through ice holes and fissures. Absolutely freezing in the van at nd the ground...?night though! Its great fun just going on road trips cos the terrain changes so quickly, one minute nice lakes next minute you half expect to see a couple of orcs charging down the hill at you! This was where the money crisis started...... Joe ran out of money a while back even though we still have another few months to go, Arnie's bank card snapped so I have been lending them money. That has pretty much gone now so we have been spending money on petrol, eating cheese sandwiches for about a week (and the occasional pint! or two), hopefully should sort itself out soon and then when we can afford petrol again we can head on up towards North Island. Hope England is starting to thaw out again, and did we really lose to Scotland in the rugby?! What the hell is going on! Bean and Swills- not long too go now!! get the prep on!
