Thanks to all that came to the 2005 Christmas Dinner. As usual, Christmas Dinner was a culinary triumph. So much turkey, ham, salad and dessert! In fact there seemed to be two of everything.
The residents of Cookie and Linda’s place did such a great job hosting the even that the whole night was one seamless transition from pre-dinner drinks to post dinner dancing. Ah Toy outdid himself in his organization of the event by ensuring that this year I wasn’t even in the same suburb as someone cooking a turkey. Well done Ah Toy!
Our Secret Santa session was especially remarkable this year with TWO Santa Clauses. The best gifts of the night included:
- Alex’s aviator sunnies that looked good on everyone but Gav;
- My hypercolour (!) singlet; and
- Tess’s boogie board, which was used to slide down the stairs and carry Robbie, resplendent over the dance floor.
Special mention must also go to Karen’s presents of a book for everyone (oh to work in publishing) and the amazing dessert of Ross and Jonathon. Tess christened the dessert the “second best home made dessert [she had] ever tasted”. Apparently it was second only to “nanna’s trifle” - enough said I guess.
And my favourite Women's Weekly Wannabe Hayley and her amazing creationeffort of the evening was Hayley who made the famous dragon centrepiece from the Women’s Weekly Birthday Cake Cookbook. It even had the lolly bags as the tail. (Although the poor dragon’s head fell over while Amy was taking a sneaky lick early in the evening.)
Some great dancing capped off a great night. I am sad that I will miss it next year. However, I have learnt a valuable lesson from years of these Christmas dinners - apparently two breasts can make a turkey…
