I am currently in Poland participating in the PEACE (People's Enthusiasm Acting for Cultural Education) project run by AIESEC SGH at the Warsaw School of Economics with support from the United Nations Development Programme. It is a 2 month internship in which I will be promoting Canadian Culture (along with others from around the world promoting their cultures) to secondary school students in villages and towns throughout the country.

Łuków (Pronounced Wookoov)

Now things are finally settling into place. I have had a chance to start working with the school as well as having time to reflect about how everything has been so I can post it to my blog. On Saturday, we took a bus from Warsawa to Łuków which even though it was 128km took about 3 hours. This is because the bus stops a lot along the way and the roads also aren't designed for going as fast as on the 401. We were a bit confused and talking about it and eventually a girl who didn't have an assigned seat gave up her seat for Elianna and she was happy so that she could sleep. I stood for about an hour sort of half sleeping until a seat opened up and then I was able to rest better. I found that the trip really wasn't that bad, and I didn't care that the seats were messed up. It's just one of those things you have to accept when you are traveling in a strange new world -- that things won't always go as planned. Anyways, we arrived safe and sound and we were greeted by two of the English teachers that we were going to be working with along with the son of the Director of the school and his friend. Sunday we went to a museum in a village about 30km away but because the roads were a bit icy, it took close to an hour to get there. It wasn't so bad because there weren't many cars on that road, but amazingly in the villages we went through people were riding bicycles in the snow/ice! The museum ...
