It's been 5 years since this trip, so I am going to think back about where I went, and what types of cool adventures I experienced during this time. My primary motives for taking this trip was the following: I had never been out of North America and wanted to see more of the world. I had contacts across Europe, and thought it would be fun to visit them. Also, I was about to go to University (I had graduated High School) and figured that life as a student is always poor. So why not have gone on a trip before school and used up some money that I had since I would be poor when it came time for university anyway. The trip was a month long in total and I only spent a few days in most places.

England - Rochester, Chatham, London, Ashford
I started off my adventure in England. I had met a girl Natasha through a school friend of mine who had participated in a work exchange program in OAC (Grade 13 in Ontario at the time). I had only spent a few evenings with the various exchange participants from England but made friends quickly and was invited to come hang out with them (when I mentioned that I would go to Europe in the summer). Natasha invited me to stay with her and her parents (being very generous people) not only let me stay with them, but picked me up at Gatwick Airport in London. Do remember, that I had only met Natasha a few times and her parents told me that they would want people to be as hospitable for her when she travels, which is why they were so open and nice to me. That's good charma! Anyways, my English experiences were in the town of Rochester -- this is the area most of the exchange students who my friend Grayson had gotten to know were from. Natasha actually lived in a town called Chatham. We spent a few nights going to the pubs, having a few pints (I got to sample various true English beers -- such as bitters, stouts, ciders, etc. I remember being a big fan of the ciders: Strongbow, Blackthorn, and Scrumpy Jack's. I also tried some bitters such as Tetley, Smithwicks, and of course the legendary stout Guinness. I found that I couldn't handle Guinness at that time. I couldn't even finish a half-pint. It was simply too strong / thick... I really do not know. However, soon after it would end up breing one of my favourite drinks (perhaps the North American version is weaker so I could handle it). We travelled to London for a day trip and I was able to see the main sights, which was also fun for me. Then soon after I was off to Paris. I took the Eurostar from Ashford (that was as far as it ran from at that time, however Natasha's father worked in Ashford so he took me there on his way to work).
